Jo Knight's debut book Called to Care (IVP) is named among the nation's top ten Christian titles.

Called to Care, the debut book from Anglican Overseas Aid CEO Jo Knight, has been named on the shortlist for the 2026 Australian Christian Book of the Year Award - one of the most respected honours in Australian Christian publishing.

Published by InterVarsity Press UK, Called to Care: A Christian Response to the Climate Challenge of Our Generation was selected from a national field of 80 entries for its contribution to Australian Christian writing, joining a shortlist of ten titles announced this week by SparkLit, the organisation behind the awards.

Called to Care draws on Scripture and Knight's years of on-the-ground experience to offer accessible, hopeful guidance for anyone seeking to care for people and planet.

Knight brings genuine credibility to the subject. As CEO of Anglican Overseas Aid, she has spent years bridging global development work with local church life, translating complex issues of poverty and climate justice into practical, faith-rooted action for congregations across Australia.

“I wrote this book because I believe caring for God's people and planet isn't a fringe issue for Christians: it's actually central to
who we are called to be as followers of Jesus. You don’t need to be an activist, scientist or theological scholar to read Called to Care... I’ve written it for people who – like me and my family - are simply living out our faith day-to-day. Being shortlisted for this award is a real honour and my hope is that it’s an invitation for the Church to have a conversation we haven't always known how to have, in a way that's hopeful, practical and grounded in
Scripture.”
